“I chose Michigan Eyecare Institute for the reputation of their doctors and long history of performing refractive surgery. When I arrived at the office I was treated like a VIP. The staff was friendly and helpful, preparing me for what to expect on the day of surgery and after... By my one week check-up I was seeing well. My results were right on target with the desired results. I am free of glasses and contacts! Being a plastic-reconstructive eye surgeon myself, I understand the risks involved. My personal experience with LASIK was excellent. I highly recommend the LASIK procedure and the Michigan Eyecare Institute.”
-G. Gladstone, M.D.

“As an outdoor wilderness and rock climbing guide, wearing contact lenses and glasses was difficult and annoying.  Now I see 20/20 and love it.  I would definitely recommend the Michigan Eye Care Institute to anyone who is a good LASIK candidate.”

"Very Professional. As a nurse, I was impressed with the level of patient education the MECI did prior to the surgery. I did have the procedure with realistic expectations of needing reading glasses afterwards. But I find it easier to wear reading glasses then wearing glasses for distance and take off for close vision. This was all discussed prior to the procedure. “
-Suzanne Hudson, R.N.

"The procedure was quick and painless. No issues after the procedure. Slept very well with no discomfort. My eyesight has improved to 20/20. That is where I wanted to be"
-Livingstone Adwini-Toku, Sr. Engineering Manager

How often should I have an eye  exam?

  • Regular eye exams are important to maintain your eyes’ health. Some diseases, such as glaucoma, often develop progressively without any symptoms– so you may not notice anything is wrong until major and irreparable damage has occurred. Early detection of any problem can allow for a variety of treatment options and a reduced risk of further harm.

 What is glaucoma?

  • Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness. Glaucoma is characterized by intraocular pressure damage to the optic nerve and retinal nerve fibers resulting in vision loss.
