CATARACTS, GLAUCOMA
& COSMETIC SURGERY

CATARACTS
As the result of aging, accident or disease, the lens in the eye can become cloudy. This is called a cataract. Once the cataract interferes with your job or daily life, it is time to consider surgery. Most often, cataract removal is performed by microsurgery on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia. There are different methods for removing the cloudy lens and restoring clear vision, usually with an Intraocular Lens Implant. One of our experienced ophthalmologists will discuss your best options.

GLAUCOMA
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of adult blindness. A simple pressure test will tell us if a patients' pressure is too high and prompt treatment is needed to prevent vision loss. There are three major types of treatment: (1) Medication, either eye drops or oral medicine. (2) Laser Treatment. This in-office procedure is used to control the progression of visual loss without a hospital stay. The procedure is painless and patients return home within hours. (3) Surgery. When glaucoma has progressed beyond the point where it can not be successfully treated with medication or laser treatment, surgery is performed.

COSMETIC AND MEDICAL EYELID SURGERY
Candidates for cosmetic eye surgery are patients with puffiness and excessive tissue around eyelids or "bags" under the eyes. Dramatic improvement is accomplished by elevating and deepening the upper eyelid crease and/or performing a lower lid blepharoplasty. Some excessive skin can lead to discomfort or decreased vision, creating a medical need for surgery. These procedures involve a local anesthetic. Financing is available. Call for more information.
